On Sunday 16 Sept, Ian (Waipoua Lodge) enjoyed climbing over 20 metres up an ancient kauri tree!

Ian said the experience was simply awesome and to sit at the top of a kauri tree like a bird in the nest is incredible.  There are all sorts of other plants and even flowers growing up there – you would never know!

We had to climb in bare feet to avoid damaging the tree which was an interesting experience but wasn’t at all painful.
