Waipoua Forest, Kauri Coast, Northland, New Zealand
The lodge is 47km north of Dargaville, on State Highway 12, only 2km from the Southern entrance to Waipoua Forest in Northland New Zealand. We are on the Twin Coast Highway Discovery. This is a circular route from Auckland, going around Northland, including the Bay of Islands, so if your accommodations are fully booked in one area, you can change them to drive the other way around.

We are just 1½ hours from the Bay of Islands, 40 minutes from Hokianga Harbour & Dargaville, and 3½ hours north of Auckland International Airport on main roads. We are 3km from the sea, 2km from Waipoua forest, 15km from Trounson Kauri Park and 40km north of Kai Iwi Lakes.

Travelling from Auckland - 3 hours
Travel Highway 1 north to the Brynderwyns (1hr and 30min) and from there follow the "Twin Coast Discovery" signs which lead through Dargaville township (one more hour). In Dargaville take State Highway 12 along the river, turn north toward the Waipoua Forest (30 min). The lodge is 47km from Dargaville. We are on the main highway on the right, opposite a kauri gift shop, with sign posts 3km before the lodge. If you get to the forest you have driven 2km too far - turn around.

Travelling from Bay Of Islands - 2 hours, 15 minutes
Travel through to the beautiful Hokianga Harbour to the town of Opononi/Omapere on State Highway 12. From here travel through the beautiful and very windy forest road (about 1 hour from Omapere). We are 2km south of the forest on State Highway 12 on the left with sign posts 300m before the lodge. A kauri gift shop is opposite us.
