The Lodge

The main lodge is a kauri wood villa that has accommodated guests since 1890 and been carefully restored by it’s resident owners Nicole and Chris.

The rich New Zealand history and character is enhanced by the memorabilia and historic pieces set within the lodge, creating a classic, yet informal elegance. Reception, office, dining room, library/sunroom, lounge with open fire and the bar are housed in the main historic lodge.

The four acre property is set on a ridge overlooking the Waipoua Forest and farmland. There are extensive gardens to explore, a jacuzzi to soak in by candlelight under the stars, a bush walk at the bottom of the garden and birdsong to fill the silence.

The four luxuriously and uniquely appointed suites are in historic farm buildings adjacent to the lodge and they also overlook the forest and gardens.

We offer privacy, service and attention to detail in relaxed gracious surroundings. Candle lit dinners are presented by our talented Chef, and served at a time of your choice, often from organic produce grown in our kitchen garden, along with premium naturally grown meats and complemented by notable New Zealand wines.

Waipoua Lodge is proudly 100% New Zealand owned and managed and is staffed from our local community. We are warm, friendly, enthusiastic and passionate about our beautiful environment. Please ask us to share stories about our ‘whenua’ (land/home).
