    Fishing | Freshwater or Sea

     

    Deep sea fishing trips are offered by Hokianga Express out of the Hokianga Harbour which is a 40 minute drive from the lodge.  The cost is $200 per hour for up to six people so depending upon the number booked the cost is shared accordingly.  All fishing tackle is provided and a packed lunch can be supplied by the lodge for $25.  The trip also includes sightseeing and local knowledge commentary.  Forward bookings are essential and normally trips will only be cancelled due to high winds.

    Freshwater fishing is available at the Kai Iwi Lakes.  A fishing permit is required so please let us know in advance of your stay, so that we can organise the licence plus arrange for fishing tackle and bait to be available from the lodge.  The cost for the licence, bait and tackle is $65 per day.

    Surf casting can be done from various local beaches.  Please advise us in advance of your stay if you would like to do this and we can arrange for bait and tackle to be provided at a cost of $40 per day.
